When the action is intense and I have to know exactly where my character is at any given point, it's frustrating to being following something onscreen only to realise it's one of the ghosts and my own player has just taken a suicide-dive into the nearest chasm! For me it is the other way around.I love speedruns and hate to get all the lums.Distance i don't mind.Like today neverending pit with lums just to many ways to go.If you get in a certain perfect time for myself in speedruns i always put ghosts on. However, there's a cooldown on the speed boost that is longer than the dash attack itself, so you'll go faster if you time your dash attacks to the hidden boost cooldown rather than the dash attack's cooldown. And to answer your other question, generally it doesn't matter how fast you fall in a horizontally-oriented speed challenge, while all the falling challenges so far have required us to collect purple lums which have such a long delay on spawning that we've had to stop and wait for them, or require us to move horizontally enough that fast-falling isn't an option. Learned this one from MrFopi's ghost on the Daily Extreme just today.Oh, and another tip: When swimming, the dash attack will give you a speed boost. Most I've used it for is in one of the Toad Story invasions when I land on a small ledge with extremely high speed and the arc which rolling gave me when falling off was better than a DA did for the next part. Finally, when in horizontal air gusts, using an aerial attack in the same direction of the gust gives you a huge speed boost. It's generally preferable to use an aerial attack for a little extra distance at the end, or just tap the hover button once holding it will totally kill your speed.Rolling/sliding has very little use as far as I've seen because spacing JCDAs well makes it not necessary and a JCDA off a downward slope is way faster than sliding, but it seemed pretty much as fast if you only use the very start of the roll. Most long horizontal jumps through air gusts can be made with a perfectly timed JCDA off the very end of a ledge (jumping when you're basically already over the edge). If you need to jump/land at specific spots, try varying the timing and height of your jumps.Chains are slower than JCDAs, so grab them as late as possible, and hovering kills your speed very quickly. You can also jump out of a dash attack a tiny bit after you leave a ledge, which often actually gains more speed than normal I think, maybe from corner slopes/odd physics?Repeated JCDAs are the fastest way to cross flat horizontal distances. ![]() Adding some top legit players will help you get their ghosts over the hackers who perform horribly or disappear halfway through the course with their 'top' scores.I'm just gonna use DA (Dash Attack) and JCDA (Jump-Cancelled Dash Attack) as abbreviations because they're so commonly used.DA to start every course, always, unless you immediately need to turn around. MrFopi and I (CelestialSpark) consistently post good times (MrFopi especially) and he's in the friends thread so he'd probably accept your request. I suggest watching the ghosts of the top players in the horizontally-inclined speed challenges. ![]() But for example in a speedrun when you go off a platform do you always press down for faster times? One last thing i want to know is jumping or jumpkicking better for speed then gliding along a chain?More tips are welcome ofcourse.Great game:). Anyone know any good strategy for a good time with the go as fast as you can challenges. It almost feels like i am missing some moves in my moveset. Most of us know about the acceleration in the run(shift)+kick(s).But does the run+kick +down roll accelerate for example?Or the run+kick+glide?I also noticed the fastest way to fall is kick+down if you got some room that is.And if you got a long way to fall and press down you accelerate alot to.
